Kolkata News LIVE Updates 2024:- Amid the ongoing investigation into the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, Resident Doctors Associations (RDAs) across Delhi will take out a joint protest march from Nirman Bhawan in the national capital on Friday, August 16.
The protest will start at 2 pm. The Delhi Medical Association (DMA) also held an emergency meeting on Thursday to discuss the rape-murder incident and the association decided to take out a candle march at India Gate at 5 pm today.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will lead a protest rally on Saturday, August 17, demanding justice for the victim. This rally will be taken out from Moulali to Dharmatala in Kolkata.
The body of a 31-year-old trainee female doctor was found in a semi-nude state in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College on Friday morning. According to police, the incident occurred between 3 and 5 am. The post-mortem report of the victim revealed that the woman was sexually assaulted before she was murdered by strangulation. According to the report, she was bleeding from both her eyes and mouth and had injury marks on her face, nails, stomach, left leg, neck, right hand, ring finger and lips. The report said that the victim was also bleeding from her private parts.
So far, one accused Sanjay Roy has been arrested in this case. Roy is a civilian volunteer who is not attached to RG Kar Medical College, but used to visit there frequently. He was arrested on Saturday, after which he was handed over to the police for 14 days under sections 64 (rape) and 103 (murder) of the Indian Judicial Code. According to the investigation, after seriously injuring and sexually assaulting the doctor, Roy strangled and strangulated him to death.
After the incident, doctors in many hospitals across the country had suspended their non-emergency services, but they resumed them after the meeting with JP Nadda.

A large group of unidentified people severely damaged hospital property at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital at around 12.40 am on Thursday night amid the ongoing agitation by junior doctors. The incident occurred when a midnight protest under the name ‘Reclaim the Night’ was being held by women against the gruesome rape and murder of a doctor at the hospital.
