Jammu Kashmir Assembly Election Live Updates:- Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election Live Updates: Second phase of voting underway in 26 electorates in Jammu and Kashmir, 36.9% voting recorded as of 1 pm.
The second phase of voting for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly begins this morning, with a group of representatives from 16 foreign missions leaving on Sunday to “lock in” the voting. However, former CM and senior National Conference leader Omar Abdullah termed them as “residential accommodation”.
He said, “If spies can be brought here, why are foreign monsters not being allowed to come here and cover the elections…Spies are being brought here as guided tours.”
26 km away, second phase voting is underway in Jammu and Kashmir, with 36.93% voting recorded till 11 am. Officials told PTI that long queues of outsiders were seen at the polling places amid tight security.
This phase, which includes 15 containment zones in Kashmir Commander and 11 containment zones in Jammu, is expected to decide the fate of high-profile figures like Abdullah, BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir chief and Reliance Rahul Gandhi. 36.93% voting took place in Jammu and Kashmir till 1 pm. Voting was 39.43% in Budgam, 39.29% in Ganderbal, 49.94% in Poonch, 46.93% in Rajouri, 51.55% in Reasi, 17.95% in Srinagar.
“It is a matter of happiness that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are voting after 10 years…for the last 10 years,” Abdul Rahim Rather, JKNC candidate from Charar-e-Sharif assembly constituency, told Annie after casting his vote. A group of spies from 16 foreign missions will leave on Sunday to “observe” the voting.
