Kangana Ranaut, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stated today that she “regrets” her statement suggesting the reinstatement of the three farm laws, which constituted the main focus of the 2020 farmers’ protest. The actor-politician said on Tuesday that the laws, which were reversed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration in November 2021 following widespread agitation, “should be brought back… (and) farmers themselves should demand it” while speaking to reporters in her Lok Sabha seat of Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.

Party spokesman Gaurav Bhatia stated that Kangana Ranaut was not authorized to make such a comment on behalf of the BJP and that it did not represent the party’s position on the agriculture bills.
“My views on farm laws are personal and they don’t represent the party’s stand on those Bills,” she replied in response to Mr. Bhatia’s statement.
In a video statement that she also posted, she claimed that many people are “disappointed” in her remarks.
“I have to remember that I work for the BJP in addition to being an artist. My views ought to represent the party’s position and not be personal. If my remarks have let anyone down, I apologize and apologise,” she stated.
