Andhra Pradesh Rain Live Updates 2024:-Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have been hit by heavy rainfall and floods, with at least nine people losing their lives in Telangana. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visited flood-hit areas in and around Vijayawada city after midnight and remained there till around 3 am despite security concerns as the Krishna river floods continued to rage for the third day. In Andhra Pradesh, agricultural crops in 1,11,259 hectares and horticultural crops in 7,360 hectares were affected. More than 28.5 cm rainfall was recorded across the state on Sunday (September 1, 2024). Shri Naidu said that the State Government is leaving no stone unturned to help the rain affected people in the State.
Due to torrential rains for the last three days and power cut for more than 24 hours in many parts of the city, life has come to a complete standstill in Vijayawada. There was severe disruption in internet and mobile telephone connectivity and prolonged traffic jams disrupted normal life, including connectivity to Hyderabad.
The transport system in Vijayawada city and its surrounding areas is disorganized. Although there is no way to reach Hyderabad even through Khammam, there is some possibility through Piduguralla route.
Flood situation has arisen due to heavy rains in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the last two days. In Khammam district of Telangana, 110 villages have been submerged, while in Andhra Pradesh, 17 thousand people have been rescued and taken to safe places.
So far 9 people have died in Telangana due to floods and rains, while 8 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Andhra Pradesh. Amidst these circumstances, the Paleru bridge in Garikapadu near Andhra-Telangana border has suffered heavy damage. Due to washing away of a part of the bridge, traffic on the National Highway has been disrupted, due to which many people have to spend the night sleeping on the road.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that the lives of more than 2.7 lakh people have been disrupted due to floods in many parts of Vijayawada city. Naidu said that till Sunday night, 9.7 lakh cusecs of flood water was released from Prakasam barrage. This type of flood last occurred in 1998. Then 9.24 lakh cusecs of water was released from Prakasam Barrage. This time the water released is 50 thousand cusecs more.
Amid the devastating floods in many parts of Telangana, the story of the rescue of a victim family has come to light. A family has been rescued by local people in Khammam. Khammam resident Akula Rani said, ‘Relatives saved our family stranded in Khammam with the help of swimmers. No one from the police and administration came to help us. Along with this, there may also be heavy rainfall in the areas of Kerala, Coastal Maharashtra and Central Maharashtra. A yellow alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department regarding this.
