At the first India-England Test, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja gave a great performance in the first session of the first day.
As the team faced England in the first Test of the series in Hyderabad on Thursday, Team India made a comeback to the longest format of the game. On a wicket that encouraged considerable turn, English captain Ben Stokes chose to bat after winning the toss, with both teams using three frontline spinners.
India, captained by Rohit Sharma, started the match with Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah as pacers, but after the ninth over, they went to spinners. Up until that point, England had been dominating their aggressive opening stand in the innings, but they lost three wickets quickly as the spin twins, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, tore apart the top order.
The famed Indian spin twins set a new Indian record as soon as the third wicket of the innings fell, with Ashwin removing Zak Crawley on 20. Ashwin picked two while Jadeja removed Ollie Pope, the number three batsman. Ashwin and Jadeja have surpassed Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh to take the top spot among India’s top Test wicket-taking duos.

The Indian pair trailed the erstwhile spin twins of India by one wicket (503 wickets) prior to the commencement of the Test. By the way, Harbhajan is ranked third as well, having taken 474 wickets with pacer Zaheer Khan.
With 1039 wickets between them, the renowned English team of Stuart Broad and James Anderson owns the record for most wickets in international cricket. After the Ashes 2023, Broad had given up on playing cricket for any national team. The only other duo in the longest format with more over a thousand wickets (1001) is Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne of Australia.
Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow made an attempt to rebuild the innings after the top-order collapse in the first session, and England managed to reach 108/3 at lunch. But as soon as play resumed, both were out, with Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja taking the two wickets.
