On this day in 2019, the CRPF soldiers who were slain in a terror assault in Pulwama were remembered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. “I pay homage to the brave heroes who were martyred in Pulwama,” he stated on X. We shall never forget the sacrifice and service they provided to our country.”
Since 1989, the Pulwama incident has continued to be the worst terror strike on state security forces in Kashmir in India. The culprit was found to be a 22-year-old Kakapora resident named Adil Ahmad Dar.
On February 14, 2019, a vehicle-borne suicide bomber struck a convoy of cars transporting Indian security forces on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway near Lethapora in the Pulwama district of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir. This incident is known as the 2019 Pulwama attack.
Adil Ahmad Dar, a young Kashmiri man from the Pulwama area, and forty members of the Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were slain in the incident. The extremist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed, headquartered in Pakistan, took credit for the assault. A video of the attacker, Adil Ahmad Dar, 22, a Kakapora native who joined the organization a year prior, was also made public.

The Indian Air Force struck suspected terrorist bases in Balakot, Pakistan, as a form of retaliation.
Notably, prior to the assault, the Indian government was said to have disregarded at least eleven intelligence reports from various sources, including the Kashmir Police and the Indian spy agency Intelligence Bureau. In a later interview with Karan Thapar, state governor Satya Pal Malik said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged him to keep quiet about security mistakes committed by his administration.
The act severely damaged India-Pakistan ties, which led to the military stalemate between the two countries in 2019. Indian investigations subsequently revealed 19 defendants. By August 2021, seven people had been taken into custody and the principal accused had been slain along with six others.
