The Congress politician Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury claimed that the party was having trouble obtaining permission to hold certain public gatherings, prompting the BJP to take a jab at him.
The BJP subtly mocked the Congress by claiming that Rahul Gandhi’s “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra” in West Bengal was denied permission by Mamata Banerjee’s government in an attempt to “humiliate” the party.
West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the party was having trouble obtaining permission to hold certain public gatherings as part of the yatra, prompting the BJP to poke fun at him.
The chairman of the BJP’s IT department and co-incharge of West Bengal, Amit Malviya, wrote on X, “The decision by Mamata Banerjee to refuse permission for Rahul Gandhi to go on a yatra is like the final nail in the coffin of I.N.D.I Alliance.” The purpose of the ruling is to make the Congress look foolish.”
“But it is wonderful to see the Congress suffer from Stockholm syndrome as well as continue to plead Mamata Banerjee for permission to join the Yatra for just 5 minutes,” he added.
Malviya called the Trinamool’s justification of exams for rejecting the yatra’s sanction for a hoax. “There is no such compulsion because exams start on February 2 and the Yatra was to enter Siliguri region on January 28,” Malviya continued.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said earlier in the day that the Bengal government was informed well in advance about Rahul Gandhi’s yatra programme.
We are encountering obstacles in certain locations since we are not granted authorization to hold open forums, citing examinations. Adhir Ranjan was quoted by news agency PTI as saying, “The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra has encountered difficulties in the Northeast, including Assam, and it is currently encountering difficulties in TMC-ruled West Bengal as well.”
“We were refused permission to hold a public meeting in Siliguri,” he continued. We anticipated greater collaboration from the state administration.”
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in particular, who desired a larger portion of seats to run for, was not pleased with this outcome.
“The INDIA alliance in West Bengal broke apart because of Adhir Chowdhury. Second, there are programs run by all opposition parties in the state, and there are no issues. Given that schools administer board exams, the administration had to make the decision, PTI cited TMC’s Santanu Sen as saying.
Sen proceeded to accuse Adhir Ranjan of being a BJP agent, claiming that the Congressman was acting at the BJP’s invitation.
“Adhir Chowdhury is a BJP operative. He is able to communicate with them. He is making those claims today at the behest of the saffron camp. The yatra’s approval has nothing to do with the TMC,” he declared.
On Thursday morning, Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra made its way from Assam into the Cooch Behar district of Bengal. The yatra will end in Mumbai on March 20 after starting in Manipur on January 14.
