According to Israel’s military that the drones, which Iraqi security sources said were seen flying over the country from Iran, would take hours to reach their targets.
Israeli Channel 12 said missiles Iran had launched would likely strike sooner but that some missiles and drones had been shot down over Syria or Jordan.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated, “Dozens of surface-to-surface missile launches from Iran were identified approaching Israeli territory. 
“Should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe,” the Iranian mission to the United Nations said, warning the U.S. to “stay away”. However, it also said Iran now “deemed the matter concluded”.

“A short while ago, dozens of surface-to-surface missiles launched from Iran were identified approaching Israeli territory. The IDF Aerial Defense Array successfully intercepted the majority of the launches using the ‘Arrow’ Aerial Defense System, together with Israel’s strategic allies, before the launches crossed into Israeli territory. A small number of hits were identified, including at an IDF base in southern Israel, where minor damage was caused to infrastructure,” the IDF said in a statement.
Israel’s Aerospace Industries, in collaboration with the US Missile Defense Agency, produced the Arrow Defense System, a surface-to-surface missile system forming an upper tier in Israel’s multi-layered air defense system.
The induction of Arrow 2 missiles in the air defense arsenal gave Israel the capability to intercept short and medium-range missiles with its hit-and-kill approach in the upper atmosphere. The objective is to neutralize the incoming missile before its descent stage.
Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and the Arrow Defense System create a layered defense system. The Iron Dome system, which has been battle-tested in the past, was actively deployed to intercept drones and short-range threats.
