The phrase “reel minister” is used by the opposition to disparage the railways minister in relation to derailment and train accident situations. The BJP leadership has named Mr. Vaishnaw, a former bureaucrat, the party campaign’s in-charge for the Maharashtra Assembly election, which is less than a month away.
Officials claim that the passenger rush before Diwali was the reason for the stampede at the Bandra station. Two have sustained serious injuries, but seven people’s conditions are currently stable.
The incident happened when passengers attempted to board the Bandra-Gorakpur Antyodaya Express, according to a Railways spokeswoman.

According to the spokeswoman, in order to handle the surge of passengers during the holiday season, Railways operates special trains. “Passengers, appropriate arrangements have been made, and ticket checking staff, RPF, and GRP are present. Please queue up and board trains in a polite manner. Don’t get on a moving train, please. Please follow railway staff’s instructions so that you reach your destination safely,” the Railways spokesperson said.
There are 22 unreserved cabins on the train headed for Gorakhpur. From midnight, people flocked to the platform in order to get seats. When the train arrived, there were around 1,500 people on the platform, and a stampede started. On the tracks, other persons also fell.
Nine people were hurt in a stampede at Mumbai’s Bandra station on Sunday morning, two of them gravely.
As people rushed to board the Antyodaya Express train headed for Gorakhpur, a stampede broke out.
Nearly 1,500 passengers were on the station at the time of the stampede, which officials have attributed to the seasonal rush leading up to Diwali.
Following the incident, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was criticized by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, who called him “incapable.”

Raut, a Shiv Sena MP, also criticized Vaishnaw for disregarding Mumbai’s railway infrastructure in favor of the bullet train project.Raut questioned why there were no passenger facilities and emphasized Mumbai’s significant contribution to the national economy.
“Mumbai City provides the Union government with the highest amount of revenue,” he stated. We barely have any passenger amenities here in comparison to that.
Raut further underlined that at least 25 significant railway accidents had occurred since the current Union administration took office.
Officials report that two of the nine injured individuals were critically hurt.
