When Sarfaraz Khan made his Test debut in the third India vs. England Test in Rajkot, he was taken aback by the surprise he got.Following a wild start to his Indian career, Sarfaraz Khan was in for a nice surprise. When Sarfaraz was selected in the starting lineup for the third Test match against England in Rajkot on Thursday, he finally fulfilled his ambition of playing for India.
When he scored a fifty on his debut, he elevated the moment even further. Sarfaraz scored just 66 runs, far less than the 110 runs achieved by Ravindra Jadeja and the 131 runs recorded by Rohit Sharma, but his performance nearly made up for the criticism he received from his more experienced colleagues.
Sarfaraz batted had a strike rate of 93.94, which allowed him to score runs quickly. He appeared to be headed for something extraordinary, perhaps a century on his debut, but his innings ended abruptly with a run out.
Nevertheless, Sarfaraz had gone above and above in his work, and he ended a remarkable day with a call from his brother Musheer. After India finished second in the Under-19 World Cup, the younger of the two Khan brothers sent Sarfaraz a video call to congratulate him on his 66-ball blitzkrieg. And this is what transpired throughout the talk.
Sarfaraz was caught off guard by Musheer's call.
By the end of the day, Sarfaraz was able to enjoy his special day with his loved ones, thus it was really special for him.Earlier in the day, his father was almost inconsolable as he gazed at Sarfaraz’s Test cap, and his wife was unable to contain her tears.
They both had fantastic seats in the grandstand and relished every single hit that Sarfaraz’s bat made. The applause for Sarfaraz increased with each run, and he received several kisses. Receiving a call from his brother—whom Sarfaraz considers to be an even better hitter than him—was just the cherry on top for the India rookie.
“Musher…” Since our hitting approaches are similar, I watch him bat if I’m having even a small amount of trouble. It was wonderful to talk to my brother. My family is split in two, with the other half residing at home in Mumbai. It was a delightful revelation. That was a significant and unforgettable day in my life. “This is something I thank God for,” Sarfaraz replied.
It says volumes about Sarfaraz’s good intentions because he scored the first 43 runs of his 50-run partnership with Jadeja. India could have battled to reach 326/5 and harbored dreams of reaching 400 on Day 2 if it hadn’t been for his hit.
