A barber shop in Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli, where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stopped by to get a haircut and beard trim, has seen a surge in the number of visitors following the celebrity visit.
Mithun Kumar, owner of a New Mumba Devi hair cutting salon in Lalganj, Rae Bareli, was taken by surprise on Monday when Mr Gandhi casually walked in and asked for a trim. Speaking to media persons who came to his shop after the Congress leader’s visit, Mr Kumar said, “I had never imagined that such a big leader would come to my shop.”
Aman Kumar, who works at the shop, said, “The number of customers has increased. If earlier 10 people used to come, now 15 come. Since that day we have received a lot of calls.”
When asked whether the Congress leader talked about the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, Aman Kumar said, “Not really, he just asked us to vote for the party we like.” He also said that Agniveer recruitment scheme for defense forces was also discussed during the talks. He said here that Mr. Gandhi assured that this scheme will be dropped if Congress comes to power.
The shop’s employee Aman Kumar stated, “There are now more customers. If ten people arrived early, we now have fifteen. Ever since that day, we have received a lot of calls.”
When asked whether the Congressman had discussed the current Lok Sabha election, Aman Kumar replied, “Not really, he just told us to vote for the party we like.” He added that throughout the conversation, the Agniveer defense force recruitment program was brought up.
