Delhi Excise Policy Case 2024:-Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue Court rejected the bail plea considering it withdrawn. The court K. Allowed to withdraw the bail plea after Kavita’s lawyer argued that he did not want to press for the bail plea and please allow it to be withdrawn. k. Kavita had filed a bail plea seeking default bail as the CBI had failed to file a complete chargesheet within the mandatory period of 60 days.

It was also said that he should be granted default bail in this case and interim bail should be granted during the pendency of the present bail plea. Earlier, his regular bail pleas were rejected by the trial court and the High Court. He was arrested on April 11 in Delhi Excise Policy case.
Was arrested by CBI. Earlier, he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 15. CBI filed charge sheet against him on 6 June. The court has taken cognizance of the charge sheet.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court on Monday rejected the petition of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in which he had challenged his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the excise policy case.
Delhi High Court said that it cannot be said that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested without any proper reason. As regards the bail plea, the court has disposed of it and given Kejriwal the option to approach the lower court for further relief.
Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal’s legal team mentioned the matter before the bench of Justice Nina Bansal Krishna and urged the court to take an early decision on his petitions. On July 29, 2024, the same bench had reserved its order on the regular bail plea of Arvind Kejriwal in the CBI case related to excise policy. During the hearing, the Central Bureau of Investigation opposed the bail plea, calling Kejriwal the “instigator” of the case. During the arguments, CBI special counsel DP Singh informed the Delhi High Court that as their investigation progressed, they found more evidence implicating Arvind Kejriwal. The CBI informed the Delhi High Court that they have completed their investigation and filed the charge sheet within a month. He claimed that Arvind Kejriwal was the central figure or “instigator” in the excise policy scam. The CBI counsel said that Arvind Kejriwal, as head of the cabinet, signed the excise policy, circulated it to his colleagues and obtained their signatures in a single day. This happened during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The CBI counsel further said that C. Arvind, an IAS officer under Manish Sisodia, testified that Vijay Nair had brought a copy of the excise policy to be entered into the computer and Arvind Kejriwal was present at that time. According to CBI, this shows Kejriwal’s direct involvement in the case. CBI lawyer DP Singh said the investigating agency has traced Rs 44 crore related to the case, which was sent to Goa. Advocate DP Singh said that Arvind Kejriwal has instructed his candidates not to worry about funds and focus on contesting the elections.
