He would go to Kanniyakumari in Tamil Nadu to meditate before the poll results on June 4, according to sources on Tuesday. He’ll be meditating at the ‘Dhyan Mandapam’ in the evening of May 30 to June 1.
The seventh and final round of the parliamentary election is scheduled on June 1; the campaign ends on May 30. PM Modi is scheduled to stay in Kanniyakumari from May 30 to June 1. He is going to meditate at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, where Swami Vivekananda used to do his meditations, while he is there.
Following his journey throughout the country, Swami Vivekananda stopped at Kanniyakumari, where he meditated for three days on a rock 500 meters offshore from the shoreline, at the meeting point of the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean. This is said to be the place of Vivekananda’s enlightenment.
According to Hindu legend, Goddess Kanniyakumari, also called Parvati, was so devoted to Lord Shiva that she performed penances on the rock. The idea that a small imprint on the rock represents her foot adds even more religious significance to the location.
Prime Minister Modi is said to go on spiritual pilgrimages after his election campaigns. In 2019 he visited Kedarnath, and in 2014 he visited Pratapgarh, the home of Shivaji.
