Light Combat Aircraft Tejas is a supersonic aircraft built in the country. The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) was founded in 1984 as a result of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) program, which was started by the Indian government, to supervise the development of these aircraft.
Leading the aircraft’s design and development was Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The aircraft was formally given the name “Tejas” in 2003, which is Sanskrit for “radiance,” by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It is the second supersonic fighter jet that HAL has designed; the HAL HF-24 Marut was the first.
