New Delhi:
16 people lost their lives in the catastrophic Mumbai billboard collapse, which was mostly caused by the advertising business Ego Media Pvt Ltd, who had erected the deadly building. After eluding authorities for three days, the company’s owner, Bhavesh Bhinde, was apprehended in Udaipur.
After a protracted manhunt involving three states, he was taken into custody.
Sixteen people lost their lives and seventy-five were injured when the 120-by-120-foot billboard collapsed. The tragic event, which happened in the middle of intense gusts and unusual rain, compelled law enforcement to act quickly.
When Bhavesh Bhinde realized that the police were coming after him, he took off running, starting a chase that took him through several cities. He continued changing his location and adopting a fictitious name in order to avoid being apprehended.
After taking law enforcement to Lonavala, Thane, and Ahmedabad, his flight eventually arrived at Udaipur, where he was discovered hiding in a hotel under a fictitious name. Every time the police closed in on him, he would be in a different city, so Mumbai Police had to send out eight squads that worked nonstop to find Bhinde.
The team disclosed that Bhavesh Bhinde first escaped to Lonavala with his driver upon hearing about the upcoming police activity, and he later returned to Mumbai by himself the following day. He then went to Thane, but kept going on his illusive quest till he reached Ahmedabad, where he stayed with a family.
In the end, he sought sanctuary in an Udaipur hotel, where the Crime Branch eventually apprehended him.
The team conducting the inquiry used both human and technology intelligence to apprehend him. He had reserved the hotel room in Udaipur under his brother’s identity.
