There are now five teams competing for two spots in the IPL 2024 Playoffs. Two berths have already been secured by Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders. The remaining two berths are up for grabs, with the following five teams competing: Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, SunRisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Lucknow Super Giants. With the exception of SRH, every other team has one game left. It implies that the final position for the IPL 2024 playoffs will most likely be determined by net run-rates.
The official IPL 2024 broadcasters, Star Sports, state that SunRisers Hyderabad have an 87.3 percent chance of making the playoffs. Compared to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (39.3 percent) and Chennai Super Kings (72.7 percent), it is significantly higher. LSG has a 0.2 percent probability of qualifying, compared to DC’s 0.7 percent.
Chennai Super Kings – 14 points in 13 matches (NRR +0.528)
One match (against RCB) is left.
The Chennai Super Kings, captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad, stand a decent chance. After 13 games, they have 14 points (NRR +0.528). They will be eliminated if they defeat RCB. The reigning champions will still be in the league even if they lose to RCB in the last match. After that, they would hope that RCB would not outscore them on NRR. Due to a far higher NRR, CSK will still be the favorites to advance even if LSG wins their final game and reaches 14. In order for them to have it easy, they would also like SRH (14 from 12 games) to lose both of their games.
Sunrisers Hyderabad – 14 points in 12 matches (NRR +0.406)
Two matches (against GT and PBKS) are left.
If SRH wins its next two games, they will secure a postseason berth. They will still advance even if they lose one of their matches. It will all come down to net run-rate if they lose both of their games. The Pat Cummins-led team will need to rely on the NRR to finish in the top 4 if SRH loses both of its remaining games while LSG and RCB win their most recent games. If SRH loses both of their games and CSK defeats RCB, they will need to maintain a higher run average than LSG and DC in order to secure the final play-off berths.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 12 points from 13 games (NRR +0.387)
One match (against CSK) is left.
With a winning streak of five games, RCB has significantly improved. After winning just one of their first seven games, they have completely changed as a team. RCB needs to defeat Chennai Super Kings in order to get 14 points and advance. Then, they would be hoping that their NRR is higher than the other teams competing for the fourth playoff position. Additionally, they would hope that either LSG loses their final game by a narrow margin or SRH loses both of their remaining games
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) handily on Sunday, bolstering their hopes of making the IPL playoffs. CSK’s victory was largely attributed to bowler Simarjeet Singh’s outstanding performance, which included three wickets taken, and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad’s undefeated 42. With five wickets and ten balls remaining, CSK easily defeated the goal after reducing Rajasthan to 141-5. With seven wins from 13 games, CSK moved up to 14 points thanks to this victory, sealing third place.

Playoff Scenarios for CSK and RCB
After beating RR, CSK is one step closer to qualifying for the playoffs, but there are still questions. Their chances could be compromised by losing to RCB in their last game, particularly if other clubs get more points. Although CSK has an edge due to their high net run rate, a victory over RCB is still necessary to guarantee a top-four finish.
RCB’s hopes of making the playoffs have been revived by their current winning run. They need to defeat CSK in their last league game to move up to 14 points, where they are now in fifth position. Postseason qualifying, though, depends on the results of other games. If RCB and CSK play to a potential knockout, RCB needs to win big in order to beat CSK’s net run rate and improve their chances of making the playoffs. Cricinfo states that RCB vs. CSK The match on Saturday is a knockout, and RCB must win by eighteen runs.
