Delhi, New: When campaigning for Madhavi Latha, the party’s candidate for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha, which is led by Mr. Owaisi brother, Aladdin Owaisi, BJP leader Navneet Rana, made an equally shocking comment, “… it will take us only 15 seconds,” in response to a provocative statement made by AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi eleven years ago. The remark was perceived as a threat to Hindus.
Referring to Akbaruddin Owaisi’s 2013 swipe, Ms. Rana, a former independent MP from Amravati, Maharashtra, stated, “The younger brother said, ‘Remove police for 15 minutes so we can show what we can do.'” “It may take you fifteen minutes, but it will only take us fifteen seconds,” is what I want to tell him.
Additionally, she made remarks that were seen to be in bad taste when she said that Madhavi Latha would “definitely stop Hyderabad from turning into Pakistan” and implied that anyone who supported the AIMIM or the Congress would be supporting Pakistan.
Voting for Congress and AIMIM sends money straight to Pakistan. The sort of ‘AIMIM prem (love)’ and ‘Rahul prem’ Pakistan is exhibiting… Similar to how Congress controlled the nation based on instructions from Pakistan, the same Pakistan claims to “love Congress and AIMIM” now.”
The Owaisi brothers were identified in a 39-second video clip that Ms. Rana posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account, which captured her outburst. Ever the fighter, the elder Owaisi answered right away and challenged Ms. Rana to carry out his challenge.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modiji, listen to me. Give her the fifteen seconds.” How is she going to act? Give her the full fifteen seconds, or even an hour. We’re curious to see what they’ll accomplish as well. Do they still possess any human nature? Who’s afraid? We’re prepared, so it’s okay if someone issues an open call of this kind. Execute it. Who is preventing you from continuing?” Mr. Owaisi informed the press.
The confrontation between Asaduddin Owaisi and Ms. Rana (as well as Ms. Latha) highlights the intense struggle for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat, which the AIMIM leader has held since 2004 and which was his father Salahuddin Owaisi’s stronghold from 1984 onwards.
The BJP has never prevailed in this area; in 2019, Bhagavanth Rao, the party’s nominee, received fewer than 236,000 votes, whilst Mr. Owaisi received over 500,000 votes and a 64 percent vote share.
Mr. Owaisi and his opponent in this race had already engaged in one unpleasant altercation.
Last month, Madhavi Latha of the BJP staged a mock arrow drawing and firing near a mosque at a Ram Navami event in Hyderabad. The gesture drew widespread criticism, with Mr. Owaisi characterizing it as “vulgar, obscene, and provocative”.

Later, Ms. Latha apologized in a message she put on X, stating, “If anyone’s feelings are hurt”. She did, however, also assert that the widely shared video is “incomplete”. She also asked, “Where did the mosque come from?” and made accusations of a “conspiracy against us (the BJP)… because we work well with both Hindu and Muslim brothers” in an interview with news agency PTI.
At a Ram Navami celebration in Hyderabad last month, Madhavi Latha of the BJP staged a fictitious arrow drawing and fire in close proximity to a mosque. Widespread criticism was directed at the gesture, which Mr. Owaisi described as “vulgar, obscene, and provocative.”
Subsequently, Ms. Latha sent a post on X apologizing and saying, “If anyone’s feelings are hurt”. Nevertheless, she also claimed that the extensively circulated video is “incomplete”. “Where did the mosque come from?” she inquired as well. He said in an interview with news agency PTI that there was a “conspiracy against us (the BJP)… because we work well with both Hindu and Muslim brothers”.
With seven Assembly segments in the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat, the AIMIM has six of them.
