After winning 1-0 on the road against Real Madrid in Spain, Paris FC is now two points behind Chelsea in third place. Veteran Gaetane Thiney’s late penalty made the difference.
In the Women’s Champions League on Wednesday, Chelsea defeated Swedish club Hacken 3-1 at home, while Real Madrid’s hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals were dashed with a 1-0 loss at home to Paris FC. Sam Kerr scored for Chelsea.
In the Group D match, Australia’s Kerr gave Chelsea the lead, but Clarissa Larisey tied the score for Hacken.
But with two games remaining, Scotland’s Erin Cuthbert scored twice in the second half to seal the win for Chelsea, who now lead Hacken by two points.

With just one point from their first four games, Real is currently unable to make it to the final eight.
Ajax defeated Bayern Munich 1-0 at home thanks to a goal from Romee Leuchter, which put them atop Group C.
After defeating Roma 3-1 in Italy, Tabitha Chawinga, Marie-Antoinette Katoto, and Korbin Albert scored goals to put Paris Saint-Germain in second place.
On Thursday, there will be additional action. In Group A, defending champion Barcelona will host Rosengard of Sweden, and in Group B, Lyon will visit Brann of Norway.
