New Delhi:
The first set of showers has caused severe waterlogging in the temple town of Ayodhya, six months after the temple’s grand opening, raising concerns about the site’s quick and extensive infrastructure renovation.
Since seasonal rains arrived in the temple town, the recently constructed Ram Path road in Ayodhya, which connects to the Ram Temple, has had multiple cave-ins.

Authorities claimed that they promptly fixed the road to prevent any disruption for the devotees after potholes appeared on the 14-kilometer route. Six municipal officials have been suspended by the Yogi Adityanath government due to “gross negligence,” according to sources.
Girish Pati Tripathi, the mayor of Ayodhya, stated that as soon as the waterlogging was discovered, measures were taken to clear the rainwater.
Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
After a period of intense rain last Saturday night at midnight, leaks were also detected at the shrine. On Monday, the chief priest of the Ram Temple asserted that rainwater seeping through the temple’s roof was gathering within the complex. Furthermore, he asserted that no plan existed to remove rainfall from the temple’s grounds.
Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Temple Trust, refuted the allegations of leakage, stating that “not a single drop of water” had leaked from the roof or entered the Sanctum Sanctorum, also known as the “Garbha Griha,” from any location. Additionally, he mentioned that the temple had “excellent arrangements” in place to drain rainfall.
According to Mr. Rai, although it looked like water was seeping from the roof, it was actually coming from a conduit pipe because the temple’s first floor was still under construction.
The reported water leak at the Ram Mandir was “expected because the Guru Mandap is exposed to the sky,” according to Nripendra Misra, head of the Ram Temple Construction Committee, who made this statement earlier while the construction was still ongoing. However, the water never entered the “Garbha Griha.”
“I’m in Ayodhya right now. Rainwater was dripping from the first story, as I could see. This is to be expected since the second floor of Shikhar will hide the opening that Guru Mandap has to the sky. Since all Mandaps have a calculated slope for water clearance and water in Sanctum Santorum is manually absorbed, there is no drainage in the area, Mr. Mishra had told ANI on Monday.
However, the opposition politicians wasted little time in attacking the BJP, claiming that widespread corruption occurred during the building of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Ajay Rai, the president of the UP Congress, stated, “Even the places of worship are sources of loot for the BJP.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22. One of the holiest places in Hinduism is the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which is thought to be the birthplace of Lord Ram.
The PwD department has come under increased pressure from the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government due to their carelessness in building the Ram Path, which connects to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Three engineers were placed on suspension due to the issue. The severe measure was taken in response to potholes that began to surface on Ram Path on June 22 during the city’s pre-monsoon rains. Given that 102 mm of rain fell on June 22 and 176 mm of rain occurred on June 25, the PWD department had attributed the occurrence to the weather.
Notably, Ram Path was built last year, and because it hasn’t rained since then, carelessness in the construction process has been made clear.
Suspended three engineers.
The Yogi government has initiated action against three engineers from the PWD department for their alleged carelessness during the construction of the Ram Path. Due to their carelessness during the Ram Path development, three engineers—including the executive engineer—have been suspended. The three engineers have been suspended by Ajay Chauhan, PWD’s principal secretary. The Ayodhya executive engineer, Dhruv Agarwal, AE Anuj, and JE are the ones on suspension.
