Concerning Dwarka City
The city of Dwarka is well-known for its lengthy history with Lord Krishna. The city is often referred to as Lord Krishna’s Karm Bhoomi because, in Hindu legend, he made his home here after vanquishing his uncle Kansa in Mathura. Following Lord Krishna’s departure from Earth years ago, the city is said to have been drowned under the sea.
During the Puranic era, the Aryans also founded the city as the capital of Saurashtra. The 2,500-year-old Dwarkadhish Temple in the city was destroyed by the Mahmud Begada dynasty and rebuilt in the sixteenth century. It is devoted to the Hindu god Krishna.
In Gujarat’s Devbhumi Dwarka district, PM Modi earlier on Sunday dedicated Sudarshan Setu, the nation’s longest cable-stayed bridge, spanning 2.32 kilometers across the Arabian Sea and linking Beyt Dwarka island to the mainland at Okha. In addition, he dedicated and established the groundwork for other city development initiatives totaling over ₹4150 crore.
