NEET UG 2024 hearing The Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud will today hear several petitions related to the alleged paper leak in the NEET UG medical entrance exam. These include petitions alleging irregularities and malpractices during the May 5 examination and demanding re-examination.
In the last hearing on July 8, the Supreme Court had said that the integrity of NEET-UG 2024 has been compromised. The top court directed the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exam, and the Central government to submit a comprehensive submission and requested the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to update the status regarding the NEET UG exam by July 10.
In an affidavit submitted on July 10, the central government said that the Education Ministry had requested IIT Madras to conduct a comprehensive data analysis of the results of NEET-UG 2024 candidates in compliance with the directions of the Supreme Court. The Center informed the Supreme Court that there was no evidence of widespread cheating in NEET-UG 2024 or specific groups of candidates unfairly benefiting from abnormal marks. NTA submitted a separate affidavit in the Supreme Court. They analyzed the distribution of marks at national, state, city and center level for NEET-UG 2024. On May 5, 23.33 lakh students took the NEET-UG 2024 exam at 4,750 centers in 571 cities, including 14 foreign cities. Conducted by NTA, NEET-UG is the entrance examination for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country.

“Cancellation of the entire examination on the basis of the above mentioned factor would be massively prejudicial and detrimental to the wider public interest, especially to the career prospects of the qualified students,” NTA said.
