Kolkata Raped Live Update 2024:-The principal of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College resigned today amid massive protests over the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor on the campus late Thursday night. Dr Sandeep Ghosh told the media that he “cannot tolerate insults” on social media and “political statements are being made in his name”.

Dr Ghosh, who has been accused of blaming the victim following the horrific incident, has denied that he made any such comments. He told the media this morning, “Students are being instigated so that I can be removed. I want the accused to be punished. I am being defamed I have not made any such comment.” He said, “The girl who died was like my daughter. I am also a parent. “As a parent, I am resigning.”
The senior doctor told the media that he is an orthopedic surgeon and can earn his livelihood. He said, “Everyone thought that Sandeep Ghosh cannot resign. I am honest. After taking charge, I curbed corruption. I have worked for the development of the hospital and in the interest of patients.”

Earlier, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari had targeted Dr Ghosh and demanded his suspension. “Their misleading statements and careless attitude after this tragic incident exposes their indifference towards the victim,” Mr Adhikari said in a post on X.
The opposition leader said, “There is every possibility that people close to him are involved in this and the police is trying to hurry up the investigation so that he is not caught. He has a lot of influence in the corridors of power.”
The 31-year-old doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of the government hospital on Friday morning. Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer who frequents the hospital, has been arrested in connection with the crime. After this incident, doctors have started protests across the country.
