Kanwar Yatra Traffic Alert 2024:-Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory to prepare for the Kanwar Yatra to be held from July 22 to August 2, in which there is a possibility of a huge crowd of devotees in the national capital.

According to the advisory, heavy traffic congestion is expected in various parts of Delhi, especially in the eastern and western areas, as well as for commuters coming from Noida and Gurgaon.
The number of Kanwariyas passing through Delhi to head towards destinations in Haryana and Rajasthan is expected to be between 15 to 20 lakh this year. To manage this large movement, the traffic police has arranged separate routes to minimize inconvenience to both local residents and devotees.
During the “Saavan” season, traffic congestion and disruption is expected across the city due to the movement of Kanwariyas and the establishment of roadside “Kanwariya camps”.

To ensure smooth passage for Kanwariyas, heavy transport vehicles (HTVs) will be rerouted from Mohan Nagar towards NH-24 by UP Police. No traffic will be allowed towards Wazirabad Road via Bhopura or GT Road via Apsara Border. HTVs will be banned on GT Road except city buses towards Shahdara and Wazirabad Road. Additionally, heavy commercial traffic from GT Karnal Road on Outer Ring Road will be diverted towards NH-24 and will be stopped from Wazirabad Road and GT Road towards Shahdara.
The advisory lists several places with heavy congestion, including Najafgarh Phirni, Rohtak Road, Pankha Road, Dev Prakash Shastri Marg, Nangloi-Najafgarh Road, Outer Ring Road, Rani Jhansi Road from Baraf Khana Chowk to Fire Station, Azad Market. Includes Boulevard Road. Chowk, Gokul Puri Flyover, 66 Foota Road, Maujpur Chowk, Badarpur T Point and Mathura Road. Traffic is also expected to be heavy on NH-08 from Dhaula Kuan Metro Station to Rajokri border. Motorists are advised to plan their journey carefully to avoid delays. Devotees and road users should follow traffic rules and follow the instructions of on-duty police personnel. Traffic violations during the Kanwar Yatra period will be prosecuted on the spot and documented through photography or videography.
