The CBI arrested the AAP national Convenor under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PC Act) in a corruption case related to the now-abolished Delhi Excise Policy. The extension of judicial custody on July 12 came hours after the Supreme Court granted interim bail to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener. The CBI had arrested the 55-year-old AAP leader on June 26. He is in judicial custody since March 31 in the ED case.
The CBI has accused the Delhi Chief Minister of being ‘one of the main conspirators’ in the irregularities related to the excise policy case. The agency claimed that AAP’s former media in-charge and close aide of Kejriwal, Vijay Nair, was communicating with several liquor producers and traders.
In the Delhi court, the investigating agency alleged that Vijay Nair demanded undue bribe to include provisions favorable to AAP in the excise policy from March 2021. ALSO READ:-https://livendtv.com/entire-neet-paper-solved/
Further, the CBI had alleged that Rs 44.45 crore was transferred through hawala channels in the state of Goa from June 2021 to January 2022 and used in the assembly election campaign of AAP. This allocation was among the Rs 100 crore bribes received by AAP, as stated in the previous CBI chargesheet.
AAP leaders Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj and Sandeep Pathak termed the Supreme Court’s decision as a “victory for truth”. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and sitting MP from New Delhi Bansuri Swaraj alleged that AAP is trying to “mislead” the people of Delhi. “Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has been granted interim bail only because a point of law has been referred to a larger bench. The ED had presented a detailed chargesheet before the court a few days ago According to that charge sheet, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was the mastermind of the excise policy scam,” PTI quoted Bansuri Swaraj as saying.
